Downeast Dog News, an informative and entertaining "...free monthly newspaper for people who love dogs" has been nominated for two awards by the Dog Writer’s Association of America 2008 competition. Heidi Sherburne, of Brunswick, Maine, has been nominated for her piece "The Painful Truth", an agonizing account of the slow painful death of her dog Timber.
Downeast Dog News is also nominated for its special publication “The Ultimate Guide to Dog Parks, Beaches and Trails in Maine,” The winners of the awards will be announced at a banquet on February 8th, the night prior to the opening of the Westminster Kennel Club's 133rd Annual Dog Show in New York City.
